FAQ

FAQWhat is Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta?

Launched in January 2007, Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta (CSGA) rallies and empowers citizens to take a stand against crime in their communities by providing an avenue for them to anonymously report information about criminal activity, or criminals’ whereabouts, and incentivizes them with cash rewards if the information leads to an arrest and indictment. The information provided through CSGA helps law enforcement in their investigations and can play a major role in the apprehension of criminals and in securing convictions. Since inception, Crime Stoppers has helped investigators solve more than 1,200 cases and has paid out more than $700 thousand in rewards for anonymous tips that have helped put more than 930 dangerous criminals behind bars and out of our communities.

How does the Crime Stoppers program work?

Crime Stoppers provides you with a safe, anonymous avenue to report information about criminal activities occurring in your community. If the information leads to an arrest and indictment, you could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

How do I report a tip?

It’s easy! Any time you have information on a crime, or know someone who has a weapon or illegal drugs at school you can submit the information one of three ways:

2. Send a text with ‘CSA’ and your tip to CRIMES (274637), or

3. On our website www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.

4. Through the mobile app, TipSubmit

Do I have to provide my name?

NO! No one will ever ask you for your name or for any identifying information; you remain completely anonymous throughout the entire process. When you submit a tip, you are given a code number. You will use this number to check to see if you are eligible for a reward and to collect the reward. by submitting the tip you will help keep yourself, your friends, your school and community safe.

How is the information used?

Information received through Crime Stoppers is forwarded to the appropriate investigator at a law enforcment agency. The information is then investigated and appropriate action is taken by law enforcement. If the information leads to an arrest and indictment, the tip provider could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

How much are the rewards?

Reward amounts range from $10 up to $2,000. The exact amount will vary on a case-by case basis depending on several factors and is kept confidential. Each case is reviewed by the Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta Advisory Council to determine the exact reward amount to be paid out.

How are the rewards paid out?
